Much learning hath made us mad

And it came about that on the Second Day of Bible reading, in the Second Week of GCBI that there was grumbling amongst the students whom David and Kirsten had driven up from Sebring.  Some of the students said, “Lo, even now we are ahead of schedule, let us go into our bed chambers and sleep, even unto the noon hour.”  But the righteous among them rebuked them saying, “No, we shall go and read, and then be even further ahead.”  Many of the students were afflicted with great sleepiness, and their heads hung heavy with fatigue, even the juice of many bitter beans did not revive them.  It came that just after the noon hour on the Second Day of Bible reading, that David spoke saying, ” Go now, expend yourself upon the surf of the Ocean, but be here and ready to read at 2 o’clock.  Do not be here at 2 o’clock saying to me, ‘I have need of a shower and fresh loin cloths.’  For when I say unto you ‘Be ready to read at 2 o’clock.’ that is exactly what I mean.”  As he spoke, so it was,  all except for the student Nate, who came and went as it pleased him.

Now it came about that when the students and even their leaders had grown weary of reading, that David would arise and challenge his male students to a game of foos-ball.  He called upon the students Patrick, Colton, and Ben of the tribe of Fetterhoff.  They played with much noise and shouting, calling into question one another’s man-hood and honesty, as is the manner of mighty men.

When the students had finished reading on second day, many of them hungered greatly and a beautiful feast was set before them, though they did not deserve it.  The men gave thanks saying, “Behold, tacos.”   And the women gave thanks saying, “Behold, there are brownies, yea, even two pans of brownies that we may partake, even unto the third helping.”   And the students rejoiced, there was no grumbling in their hearts towards their leaders.

As it happened later that night, there were yet two books of the Bible yet to be read, and the male students arose saying, “Come, let us take the upper room, for it is air-conditioned, and leave the lower room for the women, for it has no air-conditioning, no, not even a little.”  So they trampled noisily up the stairs up to the upper room.  But the women saw the unfairness of what had been done unto them, and the female students called unto their leader, Kirsten,”You are a married woman, go on before us that we may also partake of the air-conditioning.”  The women walked up the stairs, but when they entered into the room, behold, the men had all removed their shirts and the men shouted saying, “Depart from us! For we are indecent and do not feel like clothing ourselves.”  So the women departed, and endured the un-air-conditioned room and it was counted to them as righteousness.

So it was, the Second day of Bible reading.
