WHAT’S NEW?
Our Third Annual Chili Cook Off & Dessert Auction will feature a SOUP category, thanks to many great suggestions. We’re therefore opening the fundraising competition to five chili cooks and five soup cooks…and as usual, as many masterful bakers as we can handle!
THE SCOOP:
Each chili & soup chef will bring a large pot of his or her signature creation and, together with the chef’s family or “team”, will decorate their serving table with flair. Each table should have a sign indicating the ingredients used and a clever chili or soup name!
Each dessert chef will prepare his or her signature dish (categories include pies, cakes, brownies & puddings!) and will bring a simple, small label with the name of the dessert attached. We’ve chosen to close the cookie category this year due to unofficial cookie overload!
Looking for an easier way to participate? Cheese, crackers & cornbread donations will be accepted the weekend of the event.
THE VOTING:
Church family and friends will vote for their favorite chili and their favorite soup with change and bills, donating to each chef based on how much you like it! At the end of the evening, awards for Best All Around Chili and Best All Around Soup will be given, based on how much money the cooks in these categories earn. Awards will also be given for Most Creative Booth and Most Unique Ingredient(s). Attendees will cast their votes with BLUE slips of paper (for the booth with the most flair) and ORANGE slips of paper (for the dish withe the most interesting ingredient – pineapple or avocado, anyone?) – these blue and orange voting slips will be provided at the event.
THE AUCTION:
Desserts will be auctioned off at the end of the evening and all monies raised from chili, soup and desserts will go directly to the ministry of the Great Commission Bible Institute and goal of getting every student to Israel this May!
THE PIE:
And yes, someone WILL be getting a pie in the face this year!
